DUTIES

The aim of KBAK/KBFX intership program is to expose students to the daily demands and challenges of a commercial broadcasting operation and to provide as much "hands on" opportunity as possible, appropriate to individual interests, training and talents.

The duration of the individual intership is synchronized with the academic term of the student's institution (typically 12-16 weeks). While the Human Resource Manager oversees the program, each intern is interviewed and accepted by a specific department or program unit. Departments accepting interns include:

News (General News, Sports, and Weather)

Promotions Department

 

 

       
QUALIFICATIONS

Non-Paid

  • Must be currently enrolled in College or University
  • Earn school credit for work completed and submit proof of credit (i.e. print out of schedule, letter from advisor/teacher, etc.)

Preference Is Given To:

  • Seniors/Juniors or second year students at Community College/Trade School
  • Students enrolled in a WA, OR, CA, ID, or MT state school

Students majoring in Communications, Broadcasting or related field

 

       
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Students should evaluate their qualifications in relation to their areas of interest. Students who wish to work in news, for example, should be able to demonstrate journalistic talents and experience. In almost all circumstances, basic knowledge of equipment and strong writing and computer skills are considered essential.

Spring Quarter – March 1

Summer Quarter – June 1

Fall Quarter – August 1

Winter Quarter – December 1

 

 

Minimum requirement: 15 hours a week.

Internships are unpaid, and applicants must receive college credit to qualify

A successful candidate will be required to submit to a drug screening. Applicants who refuse to sign a consent form or undergo the drug screening will be denied the intership, since drug screening is an integral part of the company's procedures.
